PLYCON - COMPANY AND WEB SPECIFIC INFORMATION:
#1 - What does the name Plycon mean? Where did it come from?
Plycon is a name that evokes dread in most of the players of my long running (now defunct) AD&D campaign. It's a name for a particularly
not so nice NPC that dominated much of the last parts of the campaign story line. When we first opened our
computer store, we went with the name as part of an in-joke for the group of my friends who invested
in our start-up enterprise. It's proven to be memorable with customers, and certainly stands out! ;-)
#2 - How do I contact anybody from Plycon by phone?
Full contact information (including our phone number, hours of operation, and real world address) can be found under the Contact button at the top of every page of our website. Click HERE to go directly to that page.
#3 - I have a question/concern and can not call the store - who should I email?
Not a problem - drop me an email directly at PLYCON@PLYCON.COM. We receive vast amounts of email - but we always answer quickly. We're also always happy to help.
#4 - You have Larry Elmore's artwork all over your site! Does he know?
We love Larry Elmore's work here at the Keep. When we decided we were going to open up
an online gaming store - we wanted the very best fantasy gaming artist to provide all of
the artwork used on the web site. Elmore is the man! All of his artwork used
on this site, and in any of our online advertising, are used with Mr. Elmore's full
authorization. You might notice some of his upcoming artwork uses weapon replicas supplied by
Plycon's Armory. If you like Larry's artwork - be sure
to drop by his website at www.larryelmore.com. You can purchase
your favorite paintings and prints directly from the artist himself!
#5 - You have exclusive Tim Bradstreet artwork! What's up with that?
Tim's artwork kicks serious ass, doesn't it? I've long been a fan since his early days doing
Twilight 2000 illustrations, and now we proudly work directly with Tim to help distribute his
excellent artwork world-wide. He's been called one of the best cover artists ever by Warren Ellis -
and I've never met anyone who would disagree with that! Tim provides all of the artwork for our Armory website - and
we're happy to have provided him with several assault weapons replicas that he uses as props in his images.
Be sure to stop by Tim's site to see his large online portfolio and keep up with his current
projects. www.timbradstreet.com
#6 - Why are your website prices cheaper than your retail showroom prices?
Quite simply this is due to economic reality. People shop on the web for better deals. In
order for me to be competitive against current online gaming shops - I have to offer discounts
like they do. Most online stores are run out of garages and bed rooms - but most people don't seem to
care about that as long as they're getting something cheaper. We don't deep discount on products simply
because it's bad for the long term health of the gaming business. If you have a local store - we
encourage you to support them with your hard earned cash. Profit margin for gaming products is small - and dedicated
game stores (with some exceptions) do not tend to be extremely successful for their owners. If you don't
have a local store - or if your local store is run by a complete wanker - we'll be more than happy to sell
you whatever you want, and ship it to you quickly.
Local customers receive the benefit of being able to walk in our store and pick up and purchase whatever
they want without any delay. You can browse through our available products (we don't shrink wrap our books). We also provide free gaming space for our customer's use - and a meeting place
for our local gaming community. If you're local to us and these tangible benefits do not warrant paying our
standard retail prices in your opinion - web pricing is available to you. All you have to do is bring up our
website, select your products, select the shipping method, and then submit your order. We will then process it. You will still have to pay sales tax, and then wait
the one to two days for the product to be delivered to your house via Fed-Ex. Odds are it would have been cheaper (and quicker) to
have just come to the store and bought the product at our standard retail prices...
#7 - Why can't you sell Games Workshop products on your website?
In the summer of 2003, Games Workshop decided to no longer allow anyone else in the United States
to sell their products on the 'net via a shopping cart except for GW's US Office. We carry a full range of their
miniatures and paints in our retail store - and will be happy to sell them to you at a discount if you call us to place
an order.
So, stop by the official Games
Workshop website - browse and find what you need - and then call us to place an order!
